The Allure of the Bound Foot by Susanna Goho-Quek
What secrets lie behind the traditional Chinese custom of foot binding? Susanna Goho-Quek breathes life into the lotus shoes worn by women who had bound feet, sharing her childhood and travel experiences that are interwoven into her lifelong fascination with foot binding. Her accounts of bound feet draw on her visits to China, where she met expert collectors, as well as on her family’s stories. She will be showing lotus shoes from her private collection during the session.
